Book Review: “Redemption: The Church in Ancient Times” (Luke H. Davis)

For the past years, I’ve been devouring books on church history. It’s not just out of curiosity nor being a marites that makes me want to pick up a book on this kind of topic. I received review copies that have this topic and this year had interesting new releases of church history. The treatment of the authors varies, but I usually get historical fiction and factual narratives. But in Redemption: The Church in Ancient Times brings the best of two worlds that will make kids open the book and dig in.

Book Review: “Are You 100% Sure You Want To Be an Agnostic?” (Jonathan Gemmell and Andrew Sach)

Don’t judge the book by it’s cover.

Neither judge a book by it’s title no matter how cool it is.

I don’t easily give in to flashy book covers but when it comes to titles (and the author) I get too excited when I hear those stand out titles of the book. It serves like a cover too and things to expect. However, there are those whose content doesn’t live up to what the title is.

Catechizing My Daughter

Last year I shared a post on Driven By The Gospel on Scripture songs album that your kids might want to listen to. It’s a short list but these are albums we play from Spotify in our car. But what I didn’t share in that post is that there is an album that stands out and what my daughter (and of course our family) really loved. We play that every time we go out together especially going to church on Sunday. My daughter likes it a lot and sings along with it. In fact, she memorized some of it already and the message that these songs carries that are important in her spiritual growth. She might find this fun and entertaining but I pray that these songs will open for more biblical truths that she should know and stand for when she gets older. She easily picks up the song and catechizing her with the actual catechism for children speeds up the process of memorization.

Comicbook Review: “A Reign of Beasts” (Andrew Carman and Jared Boggess)

Summary: The prophet Daniel wakes up from a vision that is filled with horrific imagery. A prophetic dream (or nightmare) which shows Titans or kaijun emerging to battle humanity in the near future. Then as he nears the end of his, then comes a “Son of Man” to do a rescue mission.

Cover Art: This is just a foretaste of the art that you’ll experience inside the comic. And just by the cover (without giving away the details) you’ll find this is not the usual comicbook artwork. The monsters are scary looking and brooding over Daniel. It gives you that vibe that they’re menacing Daniel in his dream. The purple or maroon (color blind on digital copy) color instead of black still delivers that insidious feel to the reader.
