Book Review: “Amaze Them With God” by Kevin DeYoung

So who remember the book Don’t Call It a Comeback by Kevin DeYoung? Well I do remember it but not something that made an impact to me or to others. I dont think it made waves or became a bestseller. Nor some of my Reformed friends ever mentioned or recommended it. I think it never rings a bell with you too. It was published in 2011 and the young, the restless and the Reformed is at its peak. So Reformed books and blogs (like mine) where in abundance and a book like Kevin DeYoung’s Don’t Call It a Comeback might get lost and end up in a pre loved bookshops.

But one thing that came out of that book which the folks of 10 Publishing should be commended for (and you shouldn’t miss) is this excerpt from that book and get’s a comeback (no pun intended) to the printers. I think 10 Publishing had not forgotten the 2011 book. It was published in 2016 under the title Amaze Them With God. But what can a republished except deliver? Well nothing but solid biblical stuff!

DeYoung proposed 5 things to consider to win the next generation (whether inside or outside the church): Grab them with passion. Win them with love. Hold them with holiness. Challenge them with truth. Amaze them with God. That’s it! No gimmicks no fancy stuff. No acting cool. In other words, give them Jesus. It seems simple but as DeYoung unpacks these truth in this very short book, you’ll find yourself a jolt of lighting. You’ll feel a sort of electricity. That’s how powerful this book which focus on bringing this generation to God not by the next Christian fad but taking them back to Christ.

If you have 15 minutes to spare but wants a solid game changer for life, (which rarely you will find both in a book) grab Amaze Them With God. This 36 pages of nothing but Jesus will definitely win the next generation. Highly recommended!

My verdict:

5 out of 5
