Who is God? Part 5

Standard

” For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.”
–Romans 11: 36
For the pass two weeks, we shift gears to dig deeper on what is meant for God to be in control. We will conclude this next week then go back to the main points of this study, but first we will look at the last point of His sovereignity. In knowing who God is in terms of being in control in everything we come to the third aspect of it: God has a plan. Let look at our main text again in that part that mentions God being in control:
“…and through him.”–Romans 11: 36
Plan
“making known[a] to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.”
Eph. 1: 9-10
Not only does God has purpose and will but He also has a plan. He set out the purpose and will because He has a plan. What we are experiencing right now, is according to His plan. The past, the present and the future is already in His plan. What we have gained as a Christian through Christ, was planned long before everyone and everything has been created. In God’s sight everything is laid bare from beginning to end. Nothing escapes from Him even in the smallest, most irrellevant details in the universe. God’s plan cannot be stopped by anything and anyone. His plan will be accomplished.
If we look at the text we have chosen to study and the surrounding verses, we can see that it talks about our spiritual blessings due to what Christ have gain on the cross. Adding much to much weight to this truth is that God sets all of this in a big picture. That big picture is His plan. Lets read our text more clearly in the Amplified Bible:
Making known to us the mystery (secret) of His will (of His plan, of His purpose). [And it is this:] In accordance with His good pleasure (His merciful intention) which He had previously purposed and set forth in [a]Him,
[He planned] for the maturity of the times and the climax of the ages to unify all things and head them up and consummate them in Christ, [both] things in heaven and things on the earth.
What an awesome plan God has laid to us as a Christian. May we find these truth as a refuge as we live for God in this fallen world.
