Who is God? Part 2

” For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.”
–Romans 11: 36
We started this lesson to get to know God in just one verse. In this sweaping statement made by Paul, we can see three characters of God. Knowing these characters gives us a view on who God is. Now we will check the first character which is He is the source.
” For from him….”–Romans 11:36
God is the source. Everything came from Him. Everything your eyes can set upon it came from Him. Your five senses that are functioning right now as you read this article has a source. God is the source. Food, friends and foliage He is the source.
John 1: 1-3 tells us and much more:
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.
Now let get personal. God is not a distant cold god. The God in the Bible is not an impersonal force. We can access Him in a more intimate way than just acknowledging He is the source. The Bible speaks that He is a provider. He is a father.
Luke 11: 9-13 compares God to our earthly father:
And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. What father among you, if his son asks for[a] a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent; or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”
