Why Get Rich?

“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
–Matthew 6:19-21
“God doesn’t make us rich so we can indulge ourselves and spoil our children, or so we can insulate ourselves form needing God’s provision. God gives us abundant material blessing so that we can give it away, and give it generously.”
― Randy Alcorn
“Abundance isn’t God’s provision for me to live in luxury. It’s His provision for me to help others live. God entrusts me with this money not to build my kingdom on earth, but to build His kingdom in heaven.”
― Randy Alcorn
“In the midst of prosperity, the challenge for believers is to handle wealth in such a way that it acts as a blessing, not a curse.”
― Randy Alcorn

For the Christian the purpose of money is make use of it for God’s glory and help others. Yes we should save. Yes we should invest. But that is secondary. God redeemed us for His ultimate purpose: to glorify and make much of Him. Remember that!

Last December 7, thanks to Wazzup Pilipinas we were given a chance to know how to make use of money in the financial market. Held at the Ortigas Foundation Building the room was filled by eager bloggers and students for the seminar titled “Get Rich from the Financial Market.”The two speakers, Amar Chandnani and Shyan Lim shook the house down with their fun but really informative talk about real state, stock market and forex. Although this is just a teaser for the upcoming Philippine Money Expo 2014 on February 2014 at SM Aura Taguig, they delivered a chock-ful of latest happenings on the financial market. Aside from that they clearly explain property, stock market and forex to us and how we can engage on those markets. We weren’t disappointed.

After the talk, I had a chance to chat with one of the speakers, Shyan Lim. And because he plays Christian music (before the seminar started), prayed before we start and sprinkles Bible references here and there during the talk, I assume he is a Christian. I introduce myself as a blogger and a preacher then ask if he is a Christian. He smiled and said he is. Then he told me that the Bible made mentioned about money and possession. He adds that we should make use of it wisely. I agree and told him “I think 80% of the Bible talks about possession and financial matters. It falls under what we called stewardship.” He responded with “Yes and we wont be good stewards if we dont make use it wisely.” So guys wise up with your God given blessings.
