John MacArthur on the Resolution of Cross

What was resolved on the cross? Here’s the answer from John MacArthur:

“Perhaps the greatest theological dilemma of all time was resolved on the cross. It was the question of how a holy God could communicate mercy and grace to sinful people. Sin, as we have seen, demands death. Yet God’s loving-kindness and mercy are never ending. He loves sinners. If he simply accepts us as we are and ignore our sins, His own holiness will be tainted. Christ resolved the question by taking the punishment on Himself. He brought mercy and justice together at the cross—and satisfied the demands of both.”
